A new campaign has been launched to raise funds for Kilkenny’s first autism centre at St Canice’s co-ed national school, which will cost a total of €500,000.

There were great celebrations in two Castlebar schools last week as Mariyah Zia Janjua from St Joseph’s Secondary School, and Team Envirobriq, from St Gerald’s College made it through to the national final of the Green Dragon Secondary Schools Innovation Challenge. These students really impressed the dragons at the Connacht/Ulster regional heat with their innovative ideas in the environmental category and will be hoping to do the same at the national final in Croke Park on March 26. Here they will battle it out with 25 other finalists in a bid to lay claim to the top prize of €8,000 in development funds to bring their idea to the market.

With less than two weeks to go before the winners of the AIB GAA All-Ireland Senior Club Championship are decided, the outstanding performers of the 2010 provincial campaign were recognised during the week at the presentation of the annual AIB Provincial Player Awards.
